Sinkholes of Argostoli (Katavothres)
Our first stop is at the mysterious Sinkholes of Argostoli, one of Kefalonia’s most unique geological phenomena. These natural sea water mills have puzzled scientists for decades. Seawater disappears into cracks in the ground and re-emerges on the other side of the island – an underground journey of over 15 kilometers! It’s a must-see wonder and a perfect spot for photos and local insight.
Lighthouse of Saint Theodoroi
Next, we cruise along the coastline to the iconic Saint Theodoroi Lighthouse. This charming 19th-century structure stands proudly by the sea and offers stunning views of the Ionian Sea, especially during the golden hour. It’s a peaceful stop that captures the essence of Kefalonia’s coastal beauty.
Off-Road Adventure to the Old Telegraph Station
Now the real adventure begins! We shift into gear and head off-road, riding up a scenic dirt trail that winds through nature until we reach the Old Telegraph Station of Argostoli. Perched at the top of the hill, this historic site once served as a key communication point. From here, you’ll enjoy panoramic views over the town, mountains, and sparkling sea — a truly breathtaking experience.
Italian Acqui Division Monument
Our final stop before returning is the Italian Acqui Division Monument, a powerful memorial dedicated to the Italian soldiers who lost their lives during WWII. It’s a quiet and meaningful place that reflects Kefalonia’s wartime history and its role in European history.

The tour starts in Argostoli and lasts around 3–4 hours, with plenty of stops for photos and sightseeing.
What You’ll See:
Saint George Castle
Our first stop is the amazing Saint George Castle, built by the Venetians in the 12th century. It used to be the capital of the island and offers stunning views over southern Kefalonia. It’s a great place to take photos and learn a bit about the island’s history.
Saint Gerasimos Monastery & the 40 Wells
Next, we visit the famous Monastery of Saint Gerasimos, the island’s patron saint. It’s a peaceful and important religious site. Nearby, you’ll also see the 40 wells, a unique and historical spot with local legends behind it.
Off-Road Ride into Aenos National Park
Now the real adventure begins! We head off-road and drive up the mountain through dirt paths, entering Aenos National Park – the only national park on a Greek island. This forest is home to the rare black fir tree, which only grows here. As we drive higher, the views get even better, and we’ll stop at several spots to enjoy the scenery and take great photos.
Reach the Top of Mount Aenos
At the top of the mountain – the highest point in Kefalonia – we take a break to enjoy some snacks and soft drinks. You’ll get to relax and take in the amazing views all around you. On clear days, you can even see Ithaca and the Peloponnese in the distance!
Return to Argostoli
After our break, we drive back down through the park and head back to Argostoli, finishing a truly unforgettable tour.

Our first stop is the mysterious and abandoned village of Old Farsa. This hillside village was once full of life, but after a massive earthquake in 1953, it was left in ruins. Now, it stands as a quiet and haunting reminder of the past. We’ll take a short walk through the stone remains, enjoy the peaceful views of the sea below, and take some great photos in this unique spot.
Kourouklata Viewpoint & the Fallen Church Bell
Next, we ride up to the beautiful village of Kourouklata, where we stop at a stunning viewpoint. Here you’ll see a fallen church bell, a powerful symbol of the 2014 earthquake’s impact. This area offers an incredible view over the Ionian Sea and the nearby hills – a perfect photo stop and a moment to reflect on Kefalonia’s history.
Saint Spyridon Monastery by the Sea
After that, we head down near the coast to visit the Monastery of Saint Spyridon. This peaceful and little-known place offers one of the best views of the sea and surrounding cliffs.
